November writing challenges

by DEBBIE on NOVEMBER 5, 2009

So who else out there is doing NaNoWriMo? For those that don’t know, NaNoWriMo is short for National Novel Writing Month. The goal: to write a 50,000 word novel during November.

I’m a NaNoRebel this year; I’m actually working on two projects – a graphic novel script and a middle grade fantasy.

Other writing challenges I’ve decided to take on (yes, I know I’m mad):

PiBoIdMo, or Picture Book Idea Month: come up with a picture book idea a day and 2009 November PAD Chapbook Challenge: poem a day

Wish me luck!

You are insane! But I’m excited for you. I know you can do it! I’m doing the 1,000 words a day. So far, I’ve been able to do it. I’m so busy this month but if I think I just have to write a 1000 words, somehow I get it in. And amazingly I’m already at chapter 3! Yeah!

Good luck.

I’m not sure I’m a NaNo type writer. I think I’d have to be totally ready, like maybe even have started writing the first draft. Otherwise I just come out in December with the world’s wordiest outline. But you’re talking to a writer who does page count goals instead of word count goals to avoid padding my sentence with a million adverbs and phrases like “at all”.
