My Writing Presentation Part II
As promised, I told you I’d give you the inside scoop on my writing presentation I blogged about earlier called the 21st Century Writer I did for the SCBWI Korea chapter.
And it went great, a special thanks to all those who attended!
Prepare for Disaster
I was prepared for disaster. Like no power, no internet. But it all went smoothly. As a teacher, I’ve been burned by relying completely on my tech to run smoothly, so I brought paper copies of what I was going to talk about with screen shots of each part of the presentation on it. Even though the internet worked fine, I found the attendees referred to the handout throughout the presentation, so I will definitely do that again.
Collaborating
It was fun to collaborate with everyone about websites and blogs. Some attendees brought their computers and were able to type in sites and we got to look at those, too. We did a lot of sharing during the meeting. I, too, left with great sites and ideas that I hadn’t seen before.
Chocolate
I bought a bag of mini chocolate bars at Costco to share. Snacks are nice if you have a smaller group and it doesn’t have to be a feast.
Survey
One thing I didn’t do, but I will do next time, is have a short survey for attendees could fill out for feedback on what you did great on or what you missed. I think that could be helpful for making the presentation better and also use as references for my website or blog.
If you’d like to get the handout I made up, it’s posted on my website athttp://www.christinafarley.com/Announcements.html
Check it out!
Overall, it was a success and I can’t wait to do another presentation. As a writer, what type of topics would you like to hear someone talk about?
